- Chapter 2: A New Life Synopsis
Jayden is born into a brand new world.
He is the son of Calvin and Lora Smith, a caring couple living in Sorel, on the continent of Januaria.
Calvin is a hunter who works for the government, keeping communities safe from monsters and dangerous creatures. Lora is a teacher and researcher who studies magic, energy, psychology, and the world around her.
From the very start, Jayden acts differently, being more thoughtful and observant than other babies.
By the time he is seven, Jayden is growing up in a world where magic is real and important.
Januaria has kingdoms, magical jobs, monsters, guilds, dungeons, and supernatural skills. When children turn thirteen, they take part in a Revealing Ceremony to discover their magical talents and future jobs.
At school, Jayden learns that magic is linked to energy and thought. People can have powers related to elements like fire, water, wind, darkness, light, and earth. There are also special roles like wizards, clerics, fighters, artificers, and hunters that allow people to use their magical skills in different ways.
Jayden is particularly interested in becoming a hunter.
His mother, Lora, teaches him a deeper way to think about magic. She says that magic is not just about the job you pick; it grows from who you are and what you go through.
His father, Calvin, adds that skills become important based on how people choose to use them.
Together, these lessons help Jayden develop his thoughts on identity, choice, purpose, and life itself.
